WELCOMING YOU HOME
Our first gathering as a community was on September 16, 1992, as a storefront on Highway 411 in Madisonville, and our name was the Catholic Community of Monroe County. With the help of the Diocese of Knoxville, the land was purchased on Old Tellico Highway, and the church, now officially St. Joseph the Worker, was blessed on May 25, 2001. Since then we have had Fr. Tom Vos (2003), Fr. Peter Iorio (2006), Fr. P.J. McGinnity (2009), and Fr. John Arthur Orr (2016) reside as Pastor of our parish. On, July 1, 2018,
Fr. Julius Abuh was assigned as our fifth pastor and now leads the parish with hopes of continued growth.
ABOUT OUR CHURCH
We are a quaint, tight-knit parish in a rural community focused on spreading the love of Christ in accordance with Papal Principles.

VIRTUS CHANGES: ALL VOLUNTEERS PLEASE READ!!
The Diocese's Safe Environment Program, formerly known as VIRTUS, has been updated, improved, and renamed. Everyone who is a volunteer (and employee) at St Joseph the Worker Parish must sign up with this new program (CMGConnect) and submit to a new background check and watch new training videos. The good news is that everything is now ALL ONLINE and extremely easy to do from the comfort of your home on a computer or from your cell phone. The Diocese will maintain a database of everyone and their status, making it easier for those who volunteer at multiple parishes to not have to submit duplicate forms. Please create a new account at http://Knoxville.CMGConnect.org and click on Volunteer to begin. If you have any questions, please contact Sue at the church office!
The Knight of Columbus Annual Yard Sale will be held September 9-10 (Sept. 8 for Parishioners Only!) with proceeds supporting their many Monroe County charities. Please consider donating those items that you no longer need to this worthy event. All items of value that are clean and in working order are welcomed. They will be happy to pick-up your donations. Contact Ed Harless at 423-884-2575 or Dan Callan at 423-807-6118 for more information.
The Parish Directories have arrived. If you had your photo taken, contact the office to get your copy of the directory.

Thought for the Week:
""All who believe in Christ should feel, as an integral part of their faith, an apostolic concern to pass on to others its light and joy. This concern must become, as it were, a hunger and thirst to make the Lord known, given the vastness of the nonChristian world." … St John Paul II
"I think patriotism is like charity—it begins at home." ….Henry James
